ArtistChapter 28 – The Place the First Journey Never Reached Part 1 – The Travellers From the Other Road USE ONLY THREE REFERENCE IMAGES: CR-M1 – Morksik, CR-M2 – Borstel, CR-M4 – Hopsy. Copy these three foreground characters directly from their reference images. MORKSIK: match CR-M1 exactly. BORSTEL: match CR-M2 exactly. He is the established upright clothed anthropomorphic Borstel character, with his characteristic body proportions, face, clothing and equipment. DO NOT depict Borstel as a natural four-legged or generic hedgehog. CR-M2 overrides the word hedgehog completely. HOPSY: match CR-M4 exactly. Hopsy is clearly a KANGAROO, with long powerful hind legs, large kangaroo feet, long thick tail, upright body, large leather pouch and accessories. Never rabbit or hare. Create a 4:3 realistic painterly fantasy storybook illustration. A huge ancient stone arch without a door dominates the centre of a mist-covered road. In the foreground BEFORE the arch stand exactly three detailed characters: Morksik on the left Borstel in the centre Hopsy on the right holding his brass lantern with pale silver-white light. All three must be fully visible and clearly separated. Through the arch, far away in dense silver mist, show ONLY THREE vague counterpart silhouettes. Their body shapes suggest another Morksik, another upright Borstel and another kangaroo-shaped Hopsy, but they remain soft shadowy silhouettes with almost no facial detail. The distant Hopsy silhouette holds one small glowing lantern. Farther behind those silhouettes stand TWO tall grey-coated hooded figures, even fainter and deeper in the mist. Nobody crosses the arch. Built into the LEFT stone pillar of the arch is a very small dark wall recess containing ONE tiny old blackened brass hand-bell. The bell must be subtle, no larger than Borstel’s hand, not a large hanging church bell. Ancient wet cobblestones, moss-covered stones, twisted trees, damp grass, deep silver-grey volumetric fog. Strong perspective through the arch. Pale silver lantern light contrasts with muted forest tones. CRITICAL: exactly THREE detailed foreground heroes. Borstel must match CR-M2 and must NOT be a generic hedgehog. Hopsy must be a kangaroo. Distant counterparts are ONLY vague silhouettes, never detailed copies. TWO grey-coated figures in the far background. ONE tiny bell in the wall recess. NO extra characters. NO readable text. Bottom-right: small white full-body unicorn watermark with “AI by Unicorngraphics”.

Chapter 28 – The Place the First Journey Never Reached Part 1 – The Travellers From the Other Road
Three slow knocks came again from beyond the empty arch. Hopsy raised his colourless lantern. “Do we answer?” “No,” Morksik said. “We spent an entire chapter learning not to answer roads.” Borstel nodded. “Finally, a lesson I understand.” The stranger remained behind them, holding the second lantern. Archivara opened the book. THE PLACE WHERE THE FIRST JOURNEY SHOULD HAVE ENDED faded. New words appeared: THE ELEVENTH GUARDED THE DOOR. THE TWELFTH GUARDED THE ROAD. “And the thirteenth was the road itself,” Hopsy said. Grimmeldorn stared through the arch. “Then what happened to the destination?” The blank wooden sign creaked. Dark letters appeared: THE FIRST DESTINATION. Eldren’s paper face tightened. “There was never a destination on the original map.” “There was,” the stranger said. “Nobody reached it.” Three more knocks sounded. The mist moved. A small light appeared, then five more. Six lanterns approached. Shapes formed behind them. One figure was short. One carried a large pouch. One had spines. Another carried a book, one had moss across its shoulders, and the last held a map. Borstel stepped closer to Morksik. “Those are us.” “No,” Grimmeldorn said. “They look like us.” The six stopped on the opposite side of the arch. Morksik looked at another Morksik. Borstel stared at another Borstel. Hopsy’s double carried a brass lantern. Archivara’s held a closed book. Grimmeldorn’s had pale moss instead of black. Eldren’s double unfolded a map with a black circle cut from its centre. For several seconds neither group moved. Even the mist seemed to wait. Borstel slowly raised one paw. His double copied him exactly. Borstel lowered it again. “I was checking.” “Checking what?” Hopsy asked. “Whether he was as foolish as I am.” Across the arch, the other Borstel seemed to say something to his Hopsy. Both looked offended at exactly the same moment. Morksik watched his own double instead. There was one difference. The other Morksik kept glancing behind him, toward the mist, as though he already knew something was following them. Eldren noticed it too. “They are not waiting for us,” he whispered. “They are running from something.” The other Morksik raised one hand. “Do not cross.” His voice sounded as though it came from the bottom of the ancient well. Morksik folded his arms. “We were about to tell you the same thing.” Something moved behind the six. A grey coat appeared. Then another. Borrowed faces flickered beneath their hoods. Archivara whispered, “The false roads.” “Not false,” said the stranger. “Unchosen.” The other Hopsy shouted, “Close the arch!” “There is no door!” Hopsy called back. “There was,” his double replied. “We opened it.” The lanterns flared white. Hopsy’s colourless flame answered. Eldren’s map snapped open. Two roads appeared, approaching the arch from opposite sides.
