This dead city got its name from its tendency to drop stones with little or no warning. The rational explanation is, that the stoneworks' mortar has rotted from within, making the stones very sensitive to vibration and easily unseated. Others believe that the stones only fall on those who come to the ruins with malign intent, like thieves seeking something to steal, murderers seeking a secluded spot to kill their targets, or criminals hiding from justice. Even if a man has a good reputation, he might be crushed - sooner rather than later, it will be revealed that the man was, say, starving and whipping his servants, or even secretly harming children.

This is why the ruins have long been called The Judgment Stones.
