I have this theory, yea,
A spitball inaccurate thing of thought.
What if Cerberus was a dog, like the Foo Dog in China is a dog. But the Foo Dog is a unicorn, or a chimeric beast, Chinese Guardian Lion, an amalgamation of things, as a sort of metaphorical allegory to something more grand (among other things.)
Point being, If a dog was from hell with three heads, wouldn't it be a hellish looking thing? Why would we settle for a simple depiction of a three headed dog? When we could imagine more unified-unicorn horrors beyond our comprehension?
That's just me though.
