Humanity held off the t'ziri invaders by unleashing a nanomachine plague that sought out and burned circuity. But the limiter failed, and all electronics globally were destroyed. In the generations afterward, the keirex evolved - mutant creatures merging flesh with the bricked technology; synapses replacing circuitry. Forgotten powers resurface in warped forms.
