Dancing with my people and ake'nihsténha (ah-geh-nees-ten-ha)(my mum) in one of the several dances I participated in, celebrating Kanien’kehá:ka (gah-nyen-GEH-hah-gah) culture, our history, and our future, in Kahnawà:ke (gah-nah-WAH-geh), Quebec for the 2026 Echoes of a Proud Nation Powwow.
Kanien’keha:ka is also known by the name “Mohawk,” a name given by European settlers based on an Algonquin name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohawk_people
