The ship is shown without the starscape background in order to clarify the image.

For this species, a mother-ship is simply a mobile base for much smaller ships, called spawn-ships ; "The Scattershot" is the Alliance euphemism for the ships of this series, which includes all ships involved in colonization efforts. The original Mem'Torreck Gree name for this series refers to droplets of fertilization material sprayed during reproduction, which Alliance authorities find unpleasant, hence the euphemism. Nonetheless, Alliance wags like to call this series of ships names like the Sweet Spot, the Money Shot, and so forth, and they call a colonization armada a "spray" of ships.
