Arthur ran after the cat, sure that she knew something important. They caught up with Mrs. Cat, and Arthur asked, out of breath:
"Mrs. Cat! Excuse me, but I'd like to ask you very much: could you please tell us how to find the way out of your forest?"
"The way out of the forest? What for? "
"Well? We are still lost," Arthur was surprised.
"Well, don't get lost anymore. Stay here and live with us."
"But we have to go home. My mom is probably worried about where we are."
"Then why did you come to our forest?"
"I told you: we are looking for our cat, Barefoot. And we accidentally came here," Arthur monotonously kept repeating the same thing as before.
The cat stops, turns to Arthur and says:
"Listen to me, young man. You probably still don't understand. I've already told you that not everyone can come to our forest. And since you are here, something special has brought you here. There must be a reason."
"There are more questions than answers, Teddy Bear. Maybe I'm dreaming?"
"Let me pinch you," says Bear. "Well, did it work?"
"No, we're still here," Arthur replied sadly. "That’s all because of that Barefoot."
"Let's just get caught, and we'll show him!" Teddy Bear could not contain his discontent.
And so they went down into the valley of the forest glade, where a new discovery awaited them. A large, spreading tree grew in the middle of the clearing, and its crown shimmered with bright lights, the rays from which rose high into the sky, like a magical bridge between earth and sky.
"What is this!? What is such an incredible tree!?" Arthur was overwhelmed with wonder. He had already seen more in the last hour than in his entire life, and now he saw such a miracle.
"This is not just a tree. It's our eyes, our brain, our strength!" answered Mrs. Cat. "It's what let you in here. Do you understand? The tree knows something you don't know you need."
"How does it know something I don't know?"
"I don't know what you don't know. But it is so."
"This is all very strange."
"Think about it. Can you remember what need you might have? Or some desire, a dream that you have not been able to fulfill for a long time?"
"And what? Can this tree give me something?"
"О! It can give you something you can't even imagine. But in a very specific way"
"And what is that?"
"You can ask it for anything you want, and it'll definitely happen"
"Really, anything?"
"Anything! Some thing, or something intangible. For example, for something to happen or for someone to get well. Absolutely anything"
"Incredible..."
"But it's not as easy as you might think. And you have only one attempt, one single wish"
"Can I ask him for something now?"
"Only the tree have answer. If you are a really good boy, then it'll listen to you"
"But I don't know how to ask it," says Arthur.
"Go, you’ll understand everything. Just think about what you really want"
