Part of a series inspired by the French Republican Calendar. Fructidor is the 12th month of the calendar. Corresponding roughly with the 30 day period from August 18th to September 16th, following Thermidor and preceding the 5-6 day end-of-year celebration known as the Sanculottides. Inspired by the wild damsons and sloe berries that I forage each August, I chose a picnic scene in a plum orchard rendered in a dreamy art nouveau style to mirror the hazy golden light and long shadows of late summer.
