No moment of choice is recorded here, because the choice was never visible from
the outside.
She sits as she always has—neither enthroned nor guarded, neither elevated nor
constrained. Stone accepts her weight without ceremony. The air arranges itself
around her presence. The dragon remains, not as threat or symbol, but as
consequence: the visible shape of a conclusion reached long before witnesses
arrived.
What others might call danger has already been accounted for. The creature’s
vigilance is not for her protection, but for the preservation of an order that no longer
requires assertion. Claws, scale, and fire exist here in the same way walls exist
around a city—not to impress, but to define what is already settled.
Nothing in this place asks permission. Nothing seeks approval. The pact does not
announce itself, because it no longer needs to.
Those who come later will invent stories about power, conquest, fear, or dominion.
They will miss the quieter truth: that the dragon did not bow, and she did not
command. The arrangement simply endured—complete, sufficient, and uninterested
in interruption.
What matters has already been decided.
Everything else is just arriving late.
