In the morning light, rays of sunshine fall on a picnic table. The table is made of old weathered wood. Some of the boards are slightly warped. Its metal frame is slightly rusted but its red paint can still be seen. It sits on a concrete patio that seems to melt away into a scene of tall trees that are neatly pruned and the ground cleared beneath them. Beyond the trees a large open meadow full of tall grass that blows softly in the wind. There next to the table stands an elderly grandmother. Her hair is white and pulled into a ponytail. She is wearing a long light purple robe and is sweeping the patio with a broom. A small grey cat rubs against her. You can not see her face, she is turned looking toward the horizon. My Grandma was the kindest, most gentle soul I have ever met in this life. In the mornings she would go out and feed the cat and sweep the leaves from the patio. Her house was a magical place. The woods and open fields, the house full of love. I miss you grandma, more than you could ever know.
