Even as she had been digging the grave to lay her friend’s body to rest, Alice couldn’t shake off the feeling of horror, the growling and squeaking of the beasts repeating in her mind over and over again. And when she finally fell asleep later that night, more exhausted than she had ever felt before, she would find no respite either.
