The Bible speaks often about the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21 says, "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Our words have the ability to build up or tear down, to encourage or discourage, to bless or curse.
As Christians, we are called to use our words to bless others. In fact, in 1 Peter 3:9, we are instructed to "not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."
This means that even when others speak poorly of us or mistreat us, we are called to respond with kindness and blessings. We have the power to speak life and encouragement into the lives of those around us, and this can have a powerful impact on their lives.
In addition to blessing others through our words, we can also use our lips to bless God. Psalm 34:1 says, "I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips." When we offer praise and thanksgiving to God, we are acknowledging His goodness and faithfulness in our lives.
So today, let us be mindful of our words and how we use them. Let us seek to bless others with our lips, and to offer praise and thanksgiving to God. May our words be a source of life and encouragement to those around us, and may they bring honor and glory to God.
