ArtistChapter 50 – The Room That Had Been Waiting First Part 2 – The Guest Behind the First Door REFERENCE IMAGES — use them in this order: 1. CR-01a – Mara: preserve Mara’s exact established appearance, face, golden-blonde hair, blue eyes, freckles, green tunic, belt, dark trousers, brown boots and adult proportions. 2. CR-18 – Avena: preserve Avena’s exact established appearance, face, pale-golden braided hair, blue-grey eyes, clothing and proportions. Create a mysterious fantasy scene in 4:3 format, realistic painterly storybook style, exceptionally detailed, cinematic and atmospheric. Show the dramatic moment immediately after Mara has opened the tall white Door 1. Mara stands in the foreground at the open doorway, seen mostly from behind and slightly from the side so part of her face remains visible. She cautiously looks into a surprisingly warm, old-fashioned wooden room. Her green ribbon is clearly visible and has begun turning black along one narrow section. Inside the room stands Avena, clearly recognizable from CR-18. She faces Mara and holds a small simple wooden door in both hands. The miniature door should look old, handmade and important, approximately the size of a large book, with a tiny metal handle. It is the First Door and should be visually prominent without becoming oversized. The room beyond Door 1 should contrast strongly with the enormous darkness outside: warm wooden floorboards, aged timber walls, an old chair, a small table, shelves and a glowing fireplace. Soft golden firelight fills the room. However, something impossible is happening inside the fireplace. Instead of ordinary flames filling the entire opening, the deep black centre of the fireplace reveals an older version of Mara. The older Mara must clearly look like the same woman as CR-01a, approximately seven to eight years older, not elderly. Preserve Mara’s recognizable facial structure, blue eyes and golden-blonde colouring, but give her slightly shorter, less carefully kept hair and a more tired, experienced expression. She wears a darker, weathered version of Mara’s clothing. A green ribbon with one distinct black line is clearly visible on her. Older Mara appears partly within the unnatural darkness of the fireplace, as though another place or future is visible through it. She looks urgently toward present-day Mara. The composition should make the three important elements immediately readable: present Mara at Door 1, Avena holding the miniature First Door, and older Mara appearing through the dark fireplace. Through the open doorway behind present Mara, show a glimpse of the vast dark space from Part 1 with a few distant freestanding doors, connecting this image visually to the previous scene. Atmosphere: revelation, impossible memory, conflicting futures and quiet danger rather than horror. Warm golden light around Avena contrasts with cool blue-black darkness beyond Door 1 and inside the supernatural fireplace. Soft volumetric lighting, realistic proportions, rich wood textures, subtle magical particles, painterly fantasy storybook quality. Exactly one present-day Mara and one older Mara. Do not duplicate Avena. No additional characters. No modern objects. No random text or symbols. Add the established small white unicorn emblem with the words “AI by Unicorngraphics” discreetly in the bottom-right corner. ```

Chapter 50 The Room That Had Been Waiting First Part 2 The Guest Behind the First Door.
Mara did not open the door. “You’re already too late,” her own voice repeated from the other side. Sir Fegelot moved closer. “I would like it recorded that opening doors after they begin impersonating us has never been one of my duties.” Lumio flashed: OBJECTION RECORDED. “Thank you.” Liora stared at the black ribbon around Mara’s wrist. “It changed when you touched the handle.” Tiny silver marks moved through it like writing beneath ink. Lumio floated nearer. RECORD IN PROGRESS — SOURCE: MARA. “I’m not recording anything.” The woman in green shook her head. “Not this Mara.” Behind the door, the first voice spoke again. “Please listen. Don’t let her out.” Mara frowned. “Her?” “The other you.” “That sentence is becoming less comforting every time someone says it.” The second voice laughed softly. Mara’s laugh. “She still makes jokes when she’s frightened.” Mara’s grip tightened. “I am not frightened.” “You said that the first seven times too.” The woman in green stepped forward. “No.” Her face had gone pale. “That voice was never here during the earlier visits.” “You already mentioned that.” “There was only one person behind this door each time.” “The expected guest?” “Yes.” “Who?” Lumio immediately displayed: ACCESS DENIED BY MARA. Mara pointed at him. “I am beginning to take that personally.” A heavy sound echoed through the darkness below. One of the distant doors had opened completely. Something stood beyond it, too far away to see. Then another door opened. Then five more. The paths between them lengthened. “Mara,” said Liora. “Whatever you’re doing, perhaps do it faster.” Mara looked at the words on the white door. ONE MAY ENTER. TWO MUST LEAVE. “If there are already two people inside, perhaps the rule is telling us what happens when I enter.” Sivren nodded slowly. “Three become two.” “Which two?” “That seems to be the important omission.” The expected guest spoke. “Mara, I can explain. But not while she can hear me.” The other Mara answered, “She means not while I can correct her.” “Who are you?” Mara demanded. Silence. “If you are me, answer something only I would know.” “Which Mara?” “This one.” “You don’t know enough yet.” Mara almost released the handle simply so she could hit the door. “I dislike her.” “You disliked me before you became me too.” The landing went silent. Madam Arabica’s lid rattled. “That was an unpleasantly specific sentence.” Mara stared at the door. “Future?” Lumio flashed: TEMPORAL ORIGIN — UNRESOLVED. “Past?” TEMPORAL ORIGIN — UNRESOLVED. “Alternative?” POSSIBILITY — 63%. The woman in green stepped beside Mara. “There were seven visits because you were trying to create one future in which this room could open safely.” “And apparently I failed seven times.” “No. You succeeded seven times.” Mara looked at her. “Then why am I here an eighth?” The woman looked at the black ribbon. “Because something changed the result after you left.” The distant doors below began to knock. Eight knocks from the first. Eight from the second. Eight from every open doorway. The sound rolled through the darkness. The Cottage’s voice came through the staircase. “Mara.” “I know.” “No. Listen. Room 1 is not inside me anymore.” Mara looked at the white door. “Where is it?” “Where I was before I became the Cottage.” The woman in green closed her eyes. “The waiting place.” The expected guest whispered, “She remembers.” The other Mara said, “Not enough.” Mara pulled the door open. Light struck the landing. For one impossible second Mara saw two rooms occupying the same space. One was small and warm, with wooden walls, a fireplace, two chairs and a window overlooking a field beneath a golden sky. The other had no walls and stretched into darkness beneath thousands of suspended doors. Then the warm room remained. A young woman stood beside the fireplace, perhaps twenty-two, with pale-golden hair braided over one shoulder and blue-grey eyes. She wore a faded green tunic and held a small wooden door against her chest. Mara knew that door. She had seen herself holding it inside Memory Eight. The young woman stared at her, tears in her eyes. “You came back.” Mara stepped across the threshold. “Apparently.” The woman laughed shakily. “You always say something different.” Lumio floated through behind Mara. His screen turned brilliant white. EXPECTED GUEST — IDENTITY RESTORED. NAME — AVENA.
