End of 19 century, some searched for an intra-mercurial planet. 'Vulcan', as it was named, never confirmed until recent infra-red solar research.
Could it be hard to find because it has a very unusual orbit at 90 degrees to the plane of the Solar System, described by the staff or 'Caduceus' , associated with the Roman god "Mercury"
