The wonderful hanging garden of Semiramis, the Assyrian queen, which was built in Babylon to cheer II. Nabú-kudurri-uszur (the biblical Nebuchadnezzar) filled his wife Amüthis with homesickness. The garden consists of terraces rising one above the other, full of wonderful trees, bushes, flowers and other plants. The terraces were filled with earth so that the trees were able to grow as tall as possible. The following plants were found in the gardens: roses, pomegranates, figs, almonds, walnuts, and water lilies.
