ArtistImagine and paint in a watercolor picture the wonderful hanging garden of Semiramis, Queen of Assyria, which was built in Babylon to cheer up King II. Nabú-kudurri-uszur (the biblical Nebuchadnezzar) filled his wife Amüthis with homesickness. The garden consists of terraces rising one above the other, full of wonderful trees, bushes, flowers and other plants. The terraces were filled with earth so that the trees were able to grow as tall as possible. The pillars, vaults and terraces were made of burnt bricks and asphalt, the hanging gardens stood on terraces built on the banks of the Euphrates and were supplied with water from the river using pumps. The following plants were found in the gardens: roses, pomegranates, figs, almonds, walnuts, and water lilies.
