ArtistA whimsical picture book illustration of a majestic Snow Queen seated in an icy palace made of crystalline snow and frost. She wears a flowing white gown, her breath forming shimmering mist, while icy stars and snowflakes drift through the air. In the distance, a small child stands bravely amid the cold, holding a single red rose. Epic fairytale atmosphere, magical and emotional, luminous winter palette. Style by Anton Pieck × Leo and Diane Dillon.
The story is about a little girl searching for her playmate, who has been kidnapped by the Snow Queen. Like many of Andersen's fairy tales, this one also explores the simple happiness of ordinary, good people and is humorous and ironic. The girl's search takes place in dreamlike scenes.
A majestic ice queen with long white hair and a crown, adorned in an elegant white and golden gown with intricate patterns, sits on an elaborate ice throne in a magical ice cave. She exhales a breath of shimmering ice and snowflakes towards a small child, who stands awe-struck, holding a single red rose. The child wears a patched brown coat, a striped hat with a pompom, a blue scarf, and warm winter boots. The ice cave is adorned with sharp icicles hanging from the ceiling and large ice crystals protruding from the ground. In the background, an arched icy gateway reveals a starlit winter sky filled with swirling snow, glowing stars, and delicate snowflakes. The scene is bathed in cool blue and white tones, creating a magical winter wonderland atmosphere, reminiscent of a fairytale or a scene from Frozen.
