ArtistFull screen, side-lit, sharp-focus, macro-view large watercolor of a small beechwood bowl with ripe cape gooseberries (golden berries) whose dry, beige-brown husks are turned back to expose the golden-yellow berry. The burnished beechwood bowl lies on a rough, colorful mosaic stone countertop styled in the manner of Antoni Gaudí. Behind the bowl of cape gooseberries, the kitchen wall is a sunny yellow with flecks of gold. The culinary arrangement is deftly, lovingly and painstakingly rendered in diaphanous watercolor with exquisite detail. Above all the physalis (cape gooseberries) are extremely detailed, with the details partly are emphasized with a touch of pen-and-ink. The aquarelle is painted all the way to the edges of the heavy, handmade rag paper. Prize-winning, museum quality biology aquarelle illustration in the style of Simonetta Occhipinti Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin.
