A common misconception is that the unhoused are unemployed; in reality, approximately 40% to 53% of people experiencing homelessness are employed, either full-time or part-time, but cannot afford the rising cost of rent. In fact, for a full-time minimum-wage worker, there is no state in the U.S. where a modest two-bedroom rental home is affordable (defined as costing less than 30% of their income).
