Where I am, Where I long to be.

• Model: DaVinci2

• Size: 1192 X 1592 (1.90 MP)

• Used settings:

  • Prompt: The violent father, the terrified girl, what she longs for. it isn't really about violence at all—it's about longing, imagination, and survival. The difficult circumstances explain why the dream exists, but the emotional center of the work is the moonlit lake, the boat, the mother, and the possibility of tenderness. Those are the images that carry the story. Many people who see work like this will bring their own memories to it. Some will recognize the feeling of being trapped somewhere they did not choose. Others will recognize the private inner world that helped them endure. The contrast between "Where I Am" and "Where I Long to Be" is something almost everyone understands, even if their circumstances were very different. The moonlit boat is especially powerful because it is quiet. It doesn't promise rescue or triumph. It simply exists as a place of peace. Sometimes that is what makes an image feel true.
