Prompt: Sniff is greedy and somewhat cowardly.[1] He is timid, and therefore freedom means overcoming fears for him.[2] In the original books, Sniff is small in size and is often referred to as "little creature Sniff." In contrast, in the comics and, for example, the TV series Tales from Moominvalley, Sniff is tall and large compared to many other characters. In the animations, he is depicted as brown or gray, but in Tove Jansson's colored illustrations, he is always white (although sometimes faintly greenish due to nausea).[3]
In the books, Sniff often stays overnight at the Moominhouse, but he lives in a house built in a crevice of a rock on the edge of the forest. In the Tales from Moominvalley as well as in Tove and Lars Jansson’s comics, Sniff, however, has his own house. In the animated series, it seems that he more often lives at the Moominhouse than in his own. In the comics, Sniff is more brazen in his greed than in the books and sometimes even conspires with the villainous Stinky.
