Prompt: Mangonel is primary machine in open siege camp. It must read as medieval torsion siege engine, not ballista or trebuchet: stout timber base, braced frame, central torsion bundle, one heavy throwing arm held low under stored force. Throwing arm rises near image center through lower-to-middle arc. Keep machine simple and legible: base timbers, side braces, torsion bundle, arm pivot, release point.
Ogre is primary threatened subject on screen-right, leaning and reaching leftward across cocked arm toward ranger on screen-left. Ogre and ranger sit at roughly same fore-aft position on opposite right and left sides of central throwing arm, not front and back of machine. Ogre must read as large brutal humanoid, not giant troll or armored knight: thick torso, heavy forearms, coarse features, aggressive forward posture. Ranger is crouched low beside left side of frame, still holding short knife in same cutting posture, not yet retreating. Ranger reads as quick human scout or woodsman, not wizard or plated soldier.
Retaining rope has just been cut near ranger’s hand; severed ends whip apart under released tension. Stored torsion drives throwing arm sharply upward through ogre’s reach path. Arm remains in lower-to-middle arc, rising steeply rather than near-vertical, still below full travel. Upper moving end leaves only a tiny gap to ogre’s torso and reaching forearms; strike is imminent.
Mangonel frame remains planted and stable on stout base timbers. Ogre leans over arm from right side with torso and forearms directly in strike path, but has not yet been thrown backward. Ranger stays low on left side with knees bent and torso tucked, ducking under recoiling rope line while keeping knife hand near cut point. Use slightly elevated oblique rear-left view, near-broadside to arm rotation plane, keeping ranger left, ogre right, torsion bundle, cut rope, diagonal arm, and tiny impact gap visible. Action reads right-to-left in ogre’s attack line and bottom-to-top in mangonel recoil. Keep open sky behind upper arm so diagonal sweep reads cleanly, not against near timbers or palisade.
Environment is active siege camp, not open battlefield. Surround machine with packed earth, trampled grass, stakes, spare timbers, rope coils, crates, shields, plus secondary tents or siege materials. Keep area around machine clear enough that silhouette and mechanics remain readable. Background may show camp structures, palisade elements, or work shelters, but no crowding soldiers should compete. Space must feel outdoors with enough open ground for stable placement of engine.
Lighting is clear full daylight with broad sky fill. Bright natural light defines timber frame, ogre anatomy, ranger posture, and machine geometry while keeping shadows open and readable. Materials must separate clearly: rough timber, twisted torsion cords, taut and severed rope, iron straps, ogre skin and hide, ranger leather and cloth, packed dirt, and canvas tents. Render as detailed fantasy action illustration emphasizing visible mechanism, abrupt recoil, and imminent strike rather than gore or slapstick. Only upper moving end of throwing arm shows very slight directional motion blur aligned with its upward snap path, while ogre, ranger, mangonel frame, severed rope, and near-impact gap remain sharp and legible.
