It was a hatchling dragon, but one unlike any Bart had ever seen. It was about the size of a mountain cat, with:
Hide: Its scales were not traditional, hard plate, but shifting, crystalline patches of obsidian and bronze (reflecting the highway material).
Eyes: Its eyes were twin points of pure, contained blue-white lightning (Air's influence).
Breath: A thin, silvery mist, smelling strongly of ozone and wet earth, curled from its snout.
This hatchling was a living Genasi-Dragon, a hybrid born of the confluence of Bart's four elemental influences, much like Bart himself was born of four elements mixed with the mortal plane. It was an Earth Dragon not of stability, but of Volatile Change—a creature of pure Transmutation.
The hatchling shook the sand from its wings, locked its brilliant eyes on Bart, and let out a soundless, high-frequency scream of raw elemental hunger. It recognized Bart's shared lineage.
The hatchling, Bart's Earth Dragon, immediately began to crawl toward the narrow, wet, black shaft—the path of high Pressure.
