The Stolen Straw Hat A warm Mediterranean afternoon in another open corner of the rustic farmyard, with the distant blue sea visible beyond old stone walls and olive trees. In the foreground, the playful young donkey has just stolen a wide pink straw hat with lavender on it, and proudly holds it between its teeth, trotting away with its unexpected prize. Our recognizable young, beautiful woman with long, curly, thick, blond hair reaches toward the mischievous little donkey, laughing as she tries to get her hat back. The young woman is wearing a lilac blue dress. The mother donkey stands calmly behind them, watching the playful scene with quiet patience, as if this is certainly not the first time her young one has caused trouble. Around them, the farmyard continues its natural rhythm: chickens and their chicks wander near the old coop, geese move slowly through their own part of the yard, ducks with their ducklings gather near a shallow water trough, and the loyal german dog rests in the shade. The familiar garden cat sits on a low stone wall, watching the entire game with complete indifference. Beyond the old fencing, olive trees descend toward the distant blue sea. A small sprig of lavender grows beside the stone wall, our recurring signature motif. Impasto gives tactile weight to the donkey's soft coat, the rough stone, dry grass, straw hat, weathered wood and sun-warmed earth.
