I would like to express my concern about the removal or censorship of my dream, which depicts a mythological scene – a theme that has been part of the cultural canon since Homer around 800 BC. The image is a work of art with clear historical and art historical significance and is in no way offensive. I find it particularly confusing that my depiction of Venus – restrained, even veiled – has been removed, while numerous far more revealing images are displayed without issue. This inconsistency gives the impression of excessive prudishness, something that is fortunately still foreign to European museums and reputable art institutions. I find it deeply regrettable when classical mythology and artistic freedom are restricted by overly sensitive standards. Do we want to go back to the Middle Ages, where women have to wear veils, cannot choose how they want to live, but must bow to the dictates of men?
