Community Recognition for Supportive & Engaged Members #102

Feature Open
Rojitha Yasaswin Rojitha Yasaswin · opened

Hi DDG Team,

A thriving platform isn’t built on artworks alone it’s built on the amazing community members who spend time discovering, liking, and leaving thoughtful comments on other creators' posts.

A quiet "Like" or a encouraging comment holds genuine value; it acts as a massive source of motivation and strength for artists, while keeping the platform lively and helping great creations gain visibility.

However, we often see a contrast:
some users post their own work expecting appreciation, but never take a moment to engage with or support other artists. If everyone only posted without actively appreciating others, the platform would feel cold and static.
People remain active here because of the love, recognition, and encouragement they receive from supportive peers.

I kindly suggest introducing a system or feature to highlight and reward these dedicated, highly supportive community members. Whether through badges, profile titles, or community appreciation spotlights, celebrating those who actively give back through likes would:

Recognize the generosity and time of those who uplift other artists.

Encourage new and existing members to engage more meaningfully across the platform.

Promote a culture where supporting fellow creators is valued just as much as sharing one’s own art.

Thank you for considering this initiative to honor the compassionate heart of our community!

  • #126 Like ratio display

    Hello everyone
I would like to see a like ratio between individual users displayed in the future. This way you could see at a glance how many likes a user receives or gives in relation to their interactions. Of course, this could also be indicated by symbols or color gradients.
I would prioritize an annual interval as it also gives people a chance to start again.
However, a more detailed year-end statement would certainly be interesting for everyone.
I think such a display could make interaction within the community more interesting and transparent.

A reward approach or a badge for regular liking would also make sense. ;)

Maybe this feature can be implemented in the future - I would definitely like to try it out.

Same idea as #102: recognising members who give likes. Your like-ratio suggestion is kept as part of it, and your votes are there now.

There is already a reward for comments among the badges.

There used to be. But admin objected to that because too many liked a lot of images (I was one of them). Anyone can get likes. Just post one only image and like as many other peoples' images as you can.

I’m not talking about collecting likes on our own images here. I’m talking about encouraging people to actively like and support other artists' work.

If you look at the Trending page, you'll often see artworks with over 1K views, but only 100-300 likes. My idea is to turn those passive viewers into active supporters.

Earning likes can often be affected by follower count or favoritism, some amazing artists just don't get the same range because they don't have huge followings. But there's a set of quiet supporters on this site who go around uplifting everyone, whether they post art or not. I feel like those people deserve a badge or some recognition too!

If we only like other posts just to get likes back on our own, it becomes a transactional game. But there are lovely people here who support art simply because it's beautiful. That’s the group I’m talking about.

Giving them a badge wouldn't harm anyone,it would actually boost overall site engagement, encourage newcomers to appreciate art, and give real value to those who quietly uplift this community!
