The colors are pearlescent, a young pearl diver on the beach.
A surreal, dreamlike painting depicts a framed image of a woman with black hair in an elaborate old-fashioned updo adorned with a pearl headband and a pearl necklace. She wears a dark gray dress with long sleeves and a tied neckline, and her full frontal posture with a gaze to the left evokes a sense of deep artistic presence. She stands in front of a dynamic beach scene including a bright blue ocean with white sailboats, and a sandy beach with people. Two flags are prominently featured in the background: the Australian flag on the left and the Union Jack on the right, both billowing in the breeze. A third flag, red, blue, and white, flies from a boat in the distance.
