Just the wrong season
A semi-abstract surrealist painting by Max Ernst of a man and a woman, who both have long pointy beards coming out of their chin, are wearing large black hats as they face each other against a blue-green background. Both figures are stylized and elongated. The man is wearing a dark suit with a white shirt and black tie, holding a large red circle in his left hand. The woman is wearing a black dress with a short red jacket and red hair. Between them, a geometric, abstract shape is composed of various colorful triangles and quadrangles. Below this shape and between the two figures lies a fantastical, distorted city landscape with churches and buildings. In the upper left corner, there is a prominent orange sun. The muted colors and rough textures are reminiscent of old canvases. The overall aesthetic suggests a blend of cubism and surrealism.
