Within the Senate of the Alassian Empire, there is the "Hall of Achievement" wherein the next Emperor is chosen by a literal writing on a wall. There is a great wall where text and images magically appear chronicling the history of the Empire, as well as the death of an Emperor/Empress and the history of the new Emperor/Empress before being raised to the position. Their name is revealed upon the death of the reigning ruler. The text slowly and magically appears written in the wall; there are rumors that keepers of the Hall of Achievements have seen bits of marble sluff off the wall as text is written into the wall as if by an unseen stone mason. Around the text of the wall are murals carved in the stone of the great achievements that have happened during the time of each ruler, also including a bust of the new ruler, which is only detailed enough to recognize upon the death of the current ruler.
