  • Prompt: Elk herd at the Book Cliffs. Just layers, patchwork, quilting, mosaic, impasto cold wax and oil. Heavy palette knife work. Subtle earthy colors. Create an image of a serene landscape at dusk with a palette of soft purples, pinks, and warm earthy tones. The composition features a sprawling meadow in the foreground speckled with a myriad of blooming wildflowers in shades of pink, white, and soft lavender. The texture of the grass is painterly and impressionistic, suggesting movement in the breeze. In the middle ground, a small cluster of Grazing Elk set against a dense forest of evergreen trees that extend into the distance. The trees display a gradient of greens, slowly darkening as they move away from the viewer and contributing to the depth of the scene. Beyond the forest, the evidence of vast system of cliffs known as the Book Cliffs. The expansive sky dominates the upper third of the image, filled with large, softly textured clouds catching the last light of the day; they transition from almost white near the horizon to a deeper lavender and grey overhead. A pale waxing moon is partially visible through the cloud cover, adding to the tranquil evening atmosphere. The overall image evokes a peaceful, introspective mood, typical of a romantic landscape painting.
