ArtistPeople are eating and talking, the woman at front center walk out of the room toward the left, one futuristic aircraft is rolling to a stop outside, a second futuristic aircraft is in the air and raise dust as it ascend straight up and vanish from view.
The dullest place on the planet, a remote and less used hub, dull chapter where the main character mutate completely while hunting for the dangerous agent who indeed go to the most dull place possible. The flying crafts are not space ships either, as my story is so dull there barely are any, entirely my design, though the idea vaguely based on tourist riverboats in the real world - so they are very dull also. Here on this planet they're used as long range bus for rural communities. And while they got a space based economy, no one in their right mind would ship iron or sand. So glass, ceramics and basic metals are produced on the surface. Space imports are only for the very rare elements such as Dysprosium, Osmium, Rhodium and Rhenium - while Gold is considered such a boring [dull!] metal it's only sent on slow low priority trajectories. This change in priorities since a pile of money here matter less than owning or having control over the best and fastest processing power. A development I speculated on when writing the novel, and which we see appearing in the real world already - quite faster than what I expected.
My thinking was based on how people had expectations on the higher processing speed of Pentium processors or access time on memory etc back in the days. And applied that to a society where electronics run everything, also including the immune system of your body.
