At the bottom of the stairs stood a vast cavern. Its walls glimmered with white crystals, and a dark lake stretched beneath a stone platform. On the far side, two enormous silver eyes opened above the water. The guards pushed the prisoners onto the platform. A gate of bone slammed shut behind them. The Moon Serpent rose from the lake. Its head alone was larger than the Celestial Wayfarer. Pale scales covered its long body, each glowing with cold lunar light. A crown of curved horns surrounded its skull, and its mouth contained enough teeth to make counting them seem needlessly pessimistic. Cornelius stared in wonder. "Extraordinary." "It intends to eat us," Waldorf said. "That does not make it less extraordinary." The serpent lowered its head and sniffed. Its breath sent all seven of Waldorf's false wings streaming behind him. The Junior Grumblelisor's funnel swivelled towards the beast. There was a tiny slurp. Its lights blazed. "Oh, wow," it said. "What?" Cornelius asked. "This thing has issues." The serpent drew back, visibly offended. The machine's speaker crackled. Then, in a deep and thunderous voice, it announced: "NO ONE APPRECIATES MY DANCING." Silence filled the cavern. Waldorf looked at the serpent. Cornelius looked at the Junior Grumblelisor. High above them, the music stopped. The serpent lowered its great head until one silver eye was level with the tiny machine. "You can understand it?" Waldorf asked. "Apparently," said Cornelius. The Junior Grumblelisor gave an electronic shrug. "Yeah. It's not hungry. It's emotionally overlooked."
Cinematic wide shot captures a group of nine small figures standing on a circular stone platform inside a vast, dark cavern, looking toward a colossal white dragon that emerges from a body of water that fills the cavern floor. The dragon has elaborate, silver-scaled armor and sharp, metallic horns that curve backward, with glowing, pale eyes. Its serpentine body snakes through the underground water, with droplets dripping from its chin. The cavern walls are jagged, glistening with frost, and feature an eerie, massive rock formation carved into a face with two glowing, ancient eyes staring down from the background. On the left and right foreground, two armored guards in silver and dark cloaks stand watch, holding spears. The small figures stand together, facing the dragon, with one figure on the left displaying large, feathered wings. In front of them, a small, spherical mechanical device rests on the platform, emitting a faint blue light. The lighting is dim and atmospheric, reflecting off the dark water and emphasizing the immense scale of the dragon and the cavern.
