Hemithea, or Emmie for short, is a former immortal and huntress of the goddess Artemis. However, she left the hunting party with Artemis' blessing in order to be with the huntress Josephina and grow old. They now serve the gods by running the Freehold, a shelter for traveling demigods and nature spirits in Indianapolis. The two have an adopted daughter named Georgina.

Sie die Jagdgesellschaft jedoch mit Artemis Segen verlassen um mit der Jägerin Josephina zusammen sein und alt werden zu können. Sie dienen den Göttern nun in dem sie die Freistätte, ein Unterschlupf für durchreisende Halbgötter und Naturgeister in Indianapolis leitet. Die beiden haben eine Adoptivtochter namens Georgina.
