In Joshua Chapter 9, a tale is told,
Of Gibeonites, clever and bold.
They sought to deceive with cunning guile,
And avoid the edge of Israel's hostile.
Disguised as travelers from afar,
They fooled the Israelites, near and far.
They claimed to be from a distant land,
Seeking a treaty, a peaceful hand.
Without seeking counsel from the Lord,
Joshua made a vow, in accord.
To spare their lives, he made a pledge,
Not knowing they were on the edge.
When the truth was revealed too late,
Joshua honored his vow, despite the weight.
He made them servants, though deceived,
A consequence he could not relieve.
So, let us learn from Joshua's plight,
To seek God's wisdom, day and night.
In every decision, big or small,
To heed His voice and follow His call.
For even in the midst of deceit,
God's guidance is always complete.
With faith and wisdom, we can be,
Guided by His truth, forever free.
