The Cat at the Dark Crossroads

Prompt:  In the engulfing silence of the night, Rajith walked home after finishing his work, as if it were still broad daylight. His footsteps echoed behind him as he stepped into a quiet, dark crossroads. As he approached the junction, a strange sound reached his ears. Just a couple of meters ahead, a cat sat in the middle of the road, but it looked unnaturally long, almost a meter in length, like a shadow stretching beyond its body. At that moment, he remembered the story of a man who had died at this very junction the previous evening. "Oh no! I should stop..." In the end, the cat stared straight at him and leaped into the darkness. But what he saw next was even more terrifying! There, alongside the cat, stood a human-like figure! It faced him and began to let out a loud, eerie cry, like the wail of a banshee…
