Beneath the stars’ eternal gleam,
Unfolded there, a fleeting dream.
A wedding wrought by whimsy’s hand,
With fancies strange, both grand, unplanned.
The air was thick with cheerful murmurs,
The conversation both light and with fervor.
Beneath the stars, a world unframed,
No face she knew, no voice proclaimed.
Yet festal blooms and lanterned skies
Held her within their soft disguise.
The guests, like phantoms, ebbed and flowed,
While she, unmoored, watched shadows go.
And then—a presence, elegant and strong,
A figure she’d half-known all along. It was Twistleton!
His glance—a riddle, sharp and fleet,
"Shall we?" he asked, his voice both grave and sweet.
She had traced his craft through roles of range—
A saint, a fiend, a heart estranged.
A villain’s frost, a lover’s fire,
Each part he bore, she’d half-admired.
But now his eyes—no shadow played,
No mask to veil what truth conveyed.
Affection stirred, no dying ember.
A spark to wake what once did slumber.
Twistleton took her hand and led her without faltar
Down the rose strewn path to the altar
Before them loomed, in towering grace,
An insect strange, with solemn face.
Its mandibles, like temple bells,
Rang vows as deep as ocean swells.
In ceremonial prose, it bound their fates,
Through sacred charge it consecrates.
She turned to Twistleton, her gaze bold and shy,
A thousand questions lit her eye.
No fan letters sent, no meeting of chance
No cosmic signs foretold this dance
Yet here they stood, as if designed,
By forces strange, yet well-aligned.
She thought of moments veiled in screen,
Where passion flared in shadowed scenes.
Had she not dreamed, stayed and lingered
On the silent depths his craft conveyed?
The lines he’d blurred, the truths he’d shown—
Perhaps, she thought, I’ve always known,
The vows were sealed, the stars stood still.
"You may kiss the bride and groom, if you will.”
and though it felt both right and wrong,
Her heart began to fill.
Thus bound were they, by fate unclear,
A union strange, yet true, somehow sincere.
Where dreams and hearts incline,
To realms where love and wonder shine.
