This was an expression I heard in one of the early Dungeons & Dragons cartoon episodes. The group had just got their powers from Dungeon Master and were feeling pretty good about themselves. They were trying to rescue someone in a giant prison suspended over flames or a bottomless pit (something like that). When they attempted to charge to the rescue, the guardians of the prison said "Release the Creature!" an this unspeakable unstoppable thing attacked them, sweeping aside their feeble powers.
