ArtistJune 6, 1944, Operation Overlord: An aerial photograph shows the departing Allied armada of warships (destroyers, cruisers, battleships, frigates) and many landing craft and troop transport ships of the Americans, English, Canadians and French in the English Channel, heading for Normandy, ready for the longest day. It is slightly cloudy and there is a light wind, slightly rough seas with some waves.
June 6, 1944, and the largest armada in military history has assembled in England. 2024 was the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Landing in Normandy by the Western Allies to liberate Europe from tyranny and Nazi rule. Remember the the brave soldiers who fought and died on this very important day in world history!
