PIGEON UNDER AN INSINCERE SUN - a surreal nonsense played out on a chessboard with insane pgeons claiming they won the game because they littered the board and kicked over the pieces. The pieces themselves are criptid creations reminiscing of the mind of Dr. Moreau under the influence of ayahuasca and funy-bone extract.
An imaginative and detailed painting or digital artwork portrays a fantastical scene set on a chessboard, with a strong narrative element. The central figures are several common pigeons, but rendered with anthropomorphic and surreal qualities.
In the foreground and center, a large pigeon with wide-spread wings dominates the scene. It has grey and white feathers with hints of purplish iridescent neck plumage. Its beak is open, holding a torn piece of what appears to be a pretzel or similar baked good. The pigeon’s eyes are wide and cartoonishly expressive, conveying excitement or perhaps malice. Above the pigeon, a grinning, anthropomorphic sun with a cheerful but somewhat sinister face radiates light from behind a cloudy, golden-hued sky.
Surrounding the central pigeon are other pigeons and bizarre chess pieces. To the left, a pigeon wears a golden crown, its beak open in a squawk, standing over a fallen, intricately detailed chess piece resembling a monstrous, armored creature with a gaping, skull-like mouth. This creature, a dark gold and bronze color, is adorned with complex patterns and appears to be made of metal or stone.
To the right, another similar armored creature, also detailed and grotesque, lies fallen and broken. Near it, two more cryptid creatures.
