the S.S Liberty was a 4 meter long cardboard boat built in the city of Aurora, Auriga. the vessel was built by a woman named jane doe between the years of 2009 and 2011, a small ceremony was held before the launching of the ship in the central Aurigan lake in february 12th, 2011, no incidents happened during the launching.
the ship's maiden voyage began on february 14th of the same year, it departed from the scale cardboard port of cardboardonia with around 630 lego minifigures onboard, and safely arrived at cardbordington bay 3 hours later.
The S.S Liberty was well known in the cardboard shipping community of Lake Auriga due to it's luxurious interior and reliable crew, and it had a fairly uneventful carrer until march 31th, 2013. During the evening of that day, the weather in the region around lake Auriga was very bad, with a thunderstorm just a few miles away from Aurora, and the ship was mid-way through a voyage between Cardboardonia and New Cardboardia, and wouldn't be able to be removed from the water before the storm reached the city, which meant that the passengers and crew were going to face deadly weather conditions, (at least for a model cardboard boat).
while the ship was sailing, it's owner Jane doe tried to send cardboard tug boats to aid it if needed, but the weather was already too bad for any other vessel to get on the water, and the Liberty was doomed.
it is not known for sure what happened, but it is speculated that the massive waves eventually capsized the boat about a mile off New Cardboardia, killing every one of the 692 passengers and crew onboard. which makes the sinking of the S.S Liberty the deadliest cardboard model ship disaster in the history of lake Auriga
1 week After the sinking an exploration team of 4 people, including Jane Doe, went to the possible location of the sinking using scuba diving equipment and after 2 hours they finally discovered the wreck, it was in very bad conditions, and not much could be seen on it as it was laying on its starboard side, the masts and bridge structure were collapsed and the decks were messy, which proves the theory that the ship had likely capsized, the hull was relativelly intact, with a few cracks and some small fish swimming around it. they decided to leave the wreck there, as it was too late to recover it.
The sinking of the Liberty had a big effect on the laws of safety for cardboard vessels in lake Auriga, the most notable ones are the following:

- A cardboard vesself is prohibited from leaving port if the weather conditions are too harsh. (60+ km/ph wind speed)

- The designer of a Cardboard ship must be sure that the ship is stable and does not roll too serverely during bad weather conditions.

- Every commercial Cardboard ship must be equiped with a GPS tracking device.

Jane Doe continues to build cardboard ships for lake Auriga, with the last ship she built being the S.S Aurora, which was finished in 2022.
