ArtistFull-screen, strongly front-lit, macro-view watercolor of a dozen ears of glass gem corn lying on a dark lapislazuli stone kitchen counter, with the husks and corn silk on two ears of corn pulled back to show the rainbow-colored corn kernels. Light-blue, light-green, pink, yellow, orange, magenta, red, dark-green and dark-blue kernels alternate in a bright display. The kernels are shiny and are reminiscent of bright pieces of glass. The heriloom flint corn (maize) is being prepared for cooking. The rich, ornate culinary tableau is strongly lit from the front and casts shadows on a smooth, dark green wall with a dark-gray, simple sponge wall design pattern. The wall is rendered in blurry, spotty wet-on-wet speedpainted watercolor. The corn and the kitchen counter are deftly and painstakingly rendered in diaphanous watercolor with exquisite detail, with sketch outline tracings coming through. The aquarelle is painted all the way to the edges of the heavy, handmade rag paper. Prize-winning, museum quality biology aquarelle illustration in the style of Simonetta Occhipinti Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin.
An artistic still life of colorful glass gem corn on the cob
