Scientific Note
The lantern butterfly was originally thought to be an optical illusion until a botanist accidentally caught it in a jar. It feeds in the dark and prefers to hover over lost migration routes. It is mistakenly compared to fireflies, but is more sensitive.
When the night gets too dark,
the lantern butterfly appears – flickering, fleeting.
It shines not for itself, but for those who have lost their way,
and loses a small light with every beat of its wings.
