Unlike ordinary shapeshifters, it does not steal appearance alone; it absorbs mannerisms, memories, and even emotions. Over time, the distinction between the original person and the Skinchanger fades. Some victims are never noticed as missing, as the entity continues their life flawlessly. Yet cracks always appear. A gesture repeated too precisely, a memory recalled too perfectly—details that feel almost right, but not entirely human. It is said that the Skinchanger no longer remembers which lives were its own and which were stolen, wandering endlessly in search of a self it lost long ago.
