I grew up very close to Sandy Hook and the New Jersey bayshore explored and mapped by Henry Hudson in 1609 just before sailing the Half Moon across New York Harbor to Manhattan. This painting is adapted from done footage of modern Sandy Hook to depict the same shores as they might have appeared during Hudson's visit.
