While there's been hints with spaceships, aliens and super AI's in clips I made public earlier. The story does not jump to such immediately, but take it's time defining the setting - and the main characters in a quiet and almost mundane way.
My main character is actually one of those very ordinary persons, except the fact that she's a researcher but quite not exeptional rather an underachiever with only a somewhat higher IQ than average. But she do have an edge, of the formulas seen at bottom right is one hint of her capabilities, a part of it is the formula for the origin of life. While she's no superhero, even less a "Mary Sue" but one who get caught up in a whirlwind of events where everyone want to use her as a puppet.
The setting:
While there's a few things that stand out as alien and strange in the clips presented, most people, buildings and even nature [at least near the capital] is remarkably Earth like on the surface. This since the population pine for old Earth, and the long goal of their terraforming project have been to create an Earth replica.
This has however started to fail, as the evolution of the native life unexpectedly have adopted to the introduced lifeforms, so while there's no monsters with meter long teeth stalking about overturning buildings and eating your vespa. The threat is even more incidious with a fungus creeping close under the surface.
And this provide a reason for the aliens to move in, not with blaster and spaceships, they're actually quite civilised and motivate their actions with that the humans are unable to fend for themselves and eventually would go extinct.
But as always with missionaries and philanthropists their actions will eventually cause more damage than good - and then the humans will start to fight back.
In my novel I focus most attention on this part, as well as the aftermath after the aliens have been driven off. The video version will however show some parts for the simple reason it's visial, while the entire war in the original manuscript only got 6 pages.
