Prompt

Neo-Baroque oil painting illustration, Caravaggesque tenebrism with deep chiaroscuro, dramatic diagonal composition, rich glazed textures and contemporary hyper-detailed sharpness, warm amber firelight against velvety black shadows. Interior of a Renaissance sculptor's workshop in the time of Michelangelo: rough stone walls, wooden scaffolding, chisels, rasps and drills on a worn workbench, marble dust suspended in the air, unfinished blocks and plaster studies in the gloom. At the center, a woman with short, voluminous, intensely wavy copper red hair, wearing a loose dark Renaissance gown with rolled sleeves, unshod feet on the dusty floor, her face tense and cold, both hands raising a heavy sculptor's mallet mid-swing. Before her, a Carrara marble statue of a powerfully built man kneeling, both hands clasped behind his head in a defensive, protective gesture, his head bowed; the marble is visibly vandalized: deep cracks, chipped shoulders and elbows, gouges on the back and chest, fresh white scars on the polished surface; on the floor around his knees only small marble fragments, chips and shards scattered in white dust, no whole limbs or large broken pieces. Allegorical elements of psychological and emotional stress within a couple: on one side a lit stone fireplace with roaring flames, beside it a pile of handwritten love letters tied with a faded ribbon, some already curling and blackening in the fire; a small blindfolded Cupid putto huddled in the shadows, weeping, his bow snapped and arrows broken, his torch overturned and extinguished; a cracked mirror on the wall reflecting only a fragment of the statue; a gilded birdcage with its door shut and a silent bird inside; wilted red roses on the workbench next to a theatrical mask, symbol of deceit. Light falls from the fire and from a high window, striking the wounded statue and the raised mallet, leaving the woman's eyes half in shadow. Sombre, tragic, deeply emotional atmosphere. A small inscription chiseled into the marble base of the statue reading "MILO", carved in classical Roman capitals.

More about Emotional Abuse (Autobiographical Dream)

This dream is autobiographical. The marble statue is me.

The setting is a sculptor's workshop, the place where stone is shaped with patience and care. Here, the woman does not carve: she strikes. Her mallet does not reveal a form hidden in the marble, as Michelangelo believed every sculptor should; it tries to break the form that already exists, to reshape it into something more docile. This is the heart of the relationship I lived: a constant attempt to "tame" me, as one tames an animal, through pressure, punishment and reward.

The statue kneels with both hands behind its head, in the instinctive gesture of someone shielding himself from blows. It does not fight back. Its strength is real, but it is turned inward, used only to endure. The cracks, the chipped shoulders and the gouges on the chest are the marks of emotional blackmail: invisible wounds that, in marble, finally become visible.

The fragments scattered on the floor are what was taken from me piece by piece, including my resources. Financial exploitation rarely arrives as a single blow; it is a slow erosion, chip after chip, until you notice how much of yourself lies in the dust.

The cracked mirror on the wall reflects only a fragment of the statue. This is stashing: being kept hidden, never fully shown to her world, existing only in pieces and only when convenient. Beside it, the gilded birdcage with its door shut and a silent bird inside speaks of control: a beautiful prison where freedom is traded for approval and every song is silenced.

The wilted red roses lie on the workbench next to a theatrical mask. The roses are desire and intimacy, which in a healthy bond are a gift; here they were used as a tool of pressure, offered or withheld to obtain obedience, until they withered. The mask is deceit. I have always supported open and polyamorous relationships, so the betrayal I suffered was never about exclusivity. It was a betrayal of trust, which for me is the foundation of any kind of relationship, however it is shaped. The mask is the face that was shown to me while another truth lived behind it.

In the shadows, a blindfolded Cupid weeps. His bow is snapped, his arrows broken, and his torch is overturned and extinguished: in classical funerary art, the inverted torch is the symbol of death. Love did not simply fade in this room; it was killed.

Finally, the fireplace. Beside it lies a pile of handwritten love letters, some already curling and blackening in the flames. They are every promise, every tender word, every "forever" that once seemed sincere. Burning them is not an act of revenge; it is the necessary end of believing in something that never truly existed.

Yet one thing remains untouched. On the base of the statue, carved into the marble, is a name: MILO. The surface can be scarred and the fragments can be scattered, but the base holds. Identity, carved deep enough, does not break under the mallet.
