“Dipinto a olio su tela, stile surrealismo simbolico e metafisico, altissimo livello museale, atmosfera crepuscolare. Composizione verticale. In primo piano una superficie d’acqua scura e immobile, con cerchi concentrici di luce dorata che si allargano come onde. Al centro dell’acqua emerge un grande foro a forma di serratura (keyhole) nero profondo, che emette un bagliore caldo dall’interno. A destra, appoggiata sul bordo dell’acqua e parzialmente sospesa, una piccola chiave in ottone antico legata a una catenella, vicinissima ma inutilizzabile, fuori portata. Sullo sfondo una figura umana evanescente, più presenza che corpo, fatta di fumo e velature, senza volto, in posizione frontale ma indefinita. Sopra la figura, un grande triangolo luminoso fluttuante con un occhio al centro (all-seeing eye), non realistico ma pittorico, che irradia luce ambra come un sole giudicante. Ai lati, architetture impossibili: due scalinate che salgono nel buio verso piccoli edifici/porte lontane; elementi di legno che richiamano separé e divisori senza porte, suggeriti in modo astratto; piccole luci come candele o lampade isolate.
