The Mirror Hag does not steal youth — she steals possibility. Each mirror around her holds a life that could have been lived but never was. A path not taken, a word not spoken, a choice never made. Those who encounter her are offered a glimpse into these reflections. At first, it feels like a gift: a chance to see what might have been. But the longer one looks, the harder it becomes to return. Regret grows heavy, reality begins to fracture, and soon the person can no longer distinguish between what is and what could have been. Eventually, they fade from their own life entirely, slipping into one of the mirrors, becoming part of an unreal existence. The Hag collects these abandoned realities, feeding on the quiet despair they generate. She does not force her victims — she simply shows them what they lost, and lets them choose to disappear.
