In a one room school house, old and quaint,
Knowledge flowed without constraint,
A teacher wise, with heart so kind,
Educating young hearts and minds.
Rows of desks, in neat array,
Filled with children, come to learn each day,
From reading, writing, to arithmetic,
They soaked it in, with minds so quick.
A pot-bellied stove, the warmth it spread,
As little hands wrote and little heads read,
Inkwells filled with ink so dark,
As young minds kindled a love for spark.
With slates and chalk, they practiced their sums,
And learned the words of many a tome,
A world of knowledge, in a little space,
A timeless charm, in that one place.
Though simple, humble, and weathered,
The one room school house, so endeared,
A foundation laid, a solid start,
For generations, a treasured part.
