Radio telescope on a remote world, very unusual and weird alien creatures, the aliens sends messages of love and compassion to the universe, one of the aliens have a head like a lovely orange flower with eyes, hearts and lovely things seen around the radio telescope
So why do the nice gentle-alien at front read the manual? Well he's trying to figure out whats wrong, since those guys at Earth do not reply.
But it's not his fault, the automatic search systems on Earth only look for mathematical formulas, encyclopedia entries or stellar coordinate data etc - everything else is discarded by the computers on Earth. So the message about love and friendship is deleted and unheard.
