The opera, aside from its historical context, centers around a love triangle. Queen Elara loves Sir Devron, who still pines for his old flame, Lady Selene. Lady Selene, Elara's lady-in-waiting, is married to Duke Nocturne, Devron's close friend. The intricate relationships lead to Devron's downfall on charges of treachery. The modern setting, complete with tea cups, clashes with the bloody historical context, detracting from the opera's impact. The second act's visuals are stunning, but directorial choices sometimes miss the mark. Conductor Enric Valorian and the Royal Chamber Ensemble brought refinement to the music. Baritone Orion disappointed with a weak performance. Luna's portrayal of Selene stood out, both as a character and vocally, saving an otherwise imploding QUEEN .
